Welcome to The Butterfly Room.

The Butterfly Room (TBR) was opened officially in November of 2004. The whole point of this forum was to connect fans to Mariah through multimedia, but it became so much more than that. This forum was the original of it's kind. All the others are imitations. To quote Mariah’s long time collaborator, DJ Clue, “Often imitated, never duplicated.”

Most people don't get the significance in the name. The butterfly room is a spare guest room in Mariah's penthouse that she keeps all of her fan books and fan gifts in. On MTV Cribs she said the room is dedicated to us, and we can stay there if we like. What's a better name for a place that is dedicated to bringing fans together in the name of Mariah? The Butterfly Room was the perfect fit for a name.

Along with being a forum, this is a community that shares multimedia heavily. Once upon a time we shared with everyone, but a problem arose. Too many people would just download without saying thank you or without sharing anything of theirs. Because of this, you must now gain access to the media section by attaining a V.I.P. status. How can I reach this status, you ask? You must be an active member of this forum. There is not a required post count you have to meet, as anyone could spam the forum and reach the count only to gain access to the files. You do not apply for the V.I.P. treatment, you earn it and are eventually chosen by any of the administrators or moderators of this forum. Once you gain access to this area, you must upload as well as download. If you do not upload regularly, you will be stripped of your status. Uploading is easy and completely free. There is virtually no excuse as to why you can’t upload. There are no download limits in this forum, however, depending on what service the uploader uses certain links may be unavailable. Our only suggestion is that you request a re-upload of the file.

You may upload anything you like with the exception of Mariah's "album versions" since it can damage her sales. Media pertaining to Mariah's forthcoming release will not be tolerated in any way. This only includes leaked songs (high and low quality). You may send these files in PM (personal message), but again, they are restricted on the actual forum. Remixes from the current era were once banned, but not anymore as physical singles are so hard to come by. The posting of her home videos is also prohibited, but may be sent through PM. These include, but are not limited to, The First Vision, MTV Unplugged, Here is Mariah Carey, Fantasy: Mariah Carey Live at Madison Square Garden, Around the World, The Adventures of Mimi, Glitter or Wisegirls. To sum this up, you may not post official releases on the forum, but may PM them to each other if you desire.

In the general media section (The Butterfly Reprise) you may post whatever you like. Music, movies, programs, etc. are all allowed. There is one rule though, you must wait until an album makes it’s debut onto Billboard’s Hot 200 in order to post it. Until then, you must send it through PM.

There are some general rules you will also need to follow around the forum. They include:

1.) Never give out your password or personal details to anyone. If you absolutely must, it has to be done through PM and TBR is not held responsible for the consequences.
2.) Messages that are overly insulting to Mariah will be erased. You may criticize her as much as you want, but please be constructive.
3.) Personal attacks on our members will be erased or modified (with a detailed explanation of the modification). A warning will be added to your account, and you will receive a PM from a moderator describing the offense in detail.
4.) Post all requests in the proper sections.
5.) All topics will be moved to their appropriate locations.
6.) Pornography is not allowed and is cause for permanent termination of your membership.
7.) Spamming the forum in any way other than in the designated area is also grounds for permanent membership termination.
8.) Signature width is to be no longer than 550 pixels so that forum is not stretched.

Due to recent and recurring problems in discussions, warnings will be given to members and set to their account. You will receive a warning through PM from a moderator detailing your offense(s). The following are the warning levels that will be given:

1.) 10 warnings: You will receive a PM message for regarding your offenses, and a PM message for your tenth offense, which will result in a one-day ban.
2.) 20 warnings: You will receive a PM message regarding your offenses, and a PM message for your twentieth offense, which will result in a 2 day ban.
3.) 30 warnings: You will receive a PM message regarding your offenses, and a PM message for your thirtieth offense, which will result in a 1-week ban.
4.) 40 warnings: You will receive a PM message regarding your offenses, and a PM message for your fortieth offense, which will result in a 2-week ban.
5.) 50 warnings: You will receive a PM message regarding your offenses, and a PM message for your fiftieth offense, which will result in a 3-week ban.
6.) 60 warnings: You will receive a PM message regarding our offenses, and a PM message for your sixtieth offense, which will result in a 1-month ban.
7.) 70 warnings: You will receive a PM message regarding your offenses, and a PM message for your seventieth offense, which will result in a 2-month ban.
8.) 80 warnings: You will receive a PM message regarding your offenses, and a PM message for your eightieth offense, which will result in a 3-month ban.
9.) 90 warnings: You will receive a PM message regarding your offenses, and a PM message for your ninetieth offense, which will result in a 6-month ban.
10.) 100 warnings: You will receive a PM message regarding your offenses, and will be banned permanently.

There may however, be circumstances where no warning will be given prior to terminating your account.
